Welcome

Green homes make a green world….

Pledge: Change to Energy Saver Lightbulbs

Energy saver light bulbs are hugely costly.

Pledge: Clear the dust off the grill at the back of your fridge

Fridges work much more efficiently when the grill on the back of the fridge is clear. The grill picks up a great deal of dust over time and is often neglected. Pledge to give it a clean this week.

Pledge: Make sure that your fridge door makes good contact with your fridge

The fridge door magnet has an important function of keeping the door tightly shut which prevents leaks of cold air from the freeze. Over time, the magnet can wear down and warp.

Pledge: Turn a TV off when not in use

If you, like many people, have a habit of leaving your TV on when not in use, then consider pledging to turn off your TV when it's not being watched.

Pledge: Put several appliances onto the same gang plug, and power off at night

Some appliances, such as TV's and Sky boxes, consume electricity when not in use. Pledge to turn off all of the appliances in one room during the night. For convenience, put the appliances onto the same gang plug and then turn that one gang plug off before you go to bed.

Pledge: Laundry your cloths on a 30C wash

Pledge to laundry at least one laundry load at 30C this week.

Pledge: Encourage children to turn off their consoles when not in use

Do your children have the habit of leaving their consoles on when not in use? This is a common habit but you might be shocked to know just how much electricity a console consumes when in use!

Pledge: Boil only the water needed

Do you fill the kettle up to the top or boil more water than you actually end up putting into your cuppa? Consider this pledge to help reduce your electricity bill!

Pledge: Remember to turn off all of your lights in empty rooms

If you have a habit of leaving the lights on in rooms that are vacant, consider pledging to make an effort to turn the lights out when not in use.

Pledge: Change to Energy Saver Lightbulbs

Commit to changing at least 5 of your incandescent light bulbs to energy savers.
